I produced this template as the first stage in a full template development and thought I'd make it more widely available. It's a cleaned-up version of the default template and is designed to be easily edited.

It features a fully commented stylesheet and fully commented template files. For even easier editing, all colour and background image info has been moved to the top of the stylesheet.

It also features a print stylesheet with its own full-width banner image for professional looking print-outs.

Further features:

* Full width header image.
* Removed advanced options from search.
* Search button has its own styles separate from the other buttons for separate editing.
* Search button has "Search" on it, without affecting other language options.
* Language and Currency select boxes look more like default browser select boxes.
* Cleaner interface - most icons have been removed and links are not underlined by default.
* Full width hover effect on Categories and Information links.
* "Basket" changed to "Shopping Cart" in header navigation, without affecting other language options.
* Slightly bigger font size and greater line-spacing on paragraphs and lists to ease reading.
* Better breadcrumbs - the Home link goes to /, and the last entry is not a link to the page you are on.
* Borders put around all product images.
* On category pages and in module boxes text is now left-aligned and indented.
* Info and product image swapped around on product pages.
* Integrated options and quantity on product pages which is much more intuitive for the user.
* Better layout of Quantity discounts
* Bookmark link moved to product pages - I've added a print link too.
* Better layout of Shopping cart - all items in a row are centre aligned.
* Useful links added to the footer without affecting other language options.

To add your own header image and print banner logo just replace the files in the image folder.  The height of the header image can be changed easily by editing the data near the top of the stylesheet.

Installations instructions
1. Unzip the zip file and save the contents in a folder on your computer
2. Upload the folder "cleaner-by-default-1491" to catalog > view > theme
3. Go to Admin > System/Settings and click the "Store" tab
4. Change the Template from Default to cleaner-by-default
5. Save
